The University of Eastern Finland (Finland) is the coordinator of the project. Participating researchers are Frank Berninger, Henri Siljanen, Saborni Mait and Chahira Zerouki.

The University of Tarto (Estonia) leads the work linked to databases and metagenomics. The group is directed by Leho Tedersoo.

INRAe (France) directed by Alexia Stokes will work on soil structure and soil carbon stocks. 

CINSA (Italy) directed by Prof. Nelson Marmiroli and Elena Maestri will lead the work on functions of the genome

The University of Lleida (lead Jose-Antonio Bonnet, Spain) leads WP4 on ecosystem services

University of Santa Catarina State (Brazil) lead by Antonio Drechsler will work on red-listed species. 

The University of Belgrade is a subcontractor to the University of Eastern Finland working on the fungal diversity in the Frusca Gora national park.
